Metron Analysis survey: The business community’s perception of the Hellenic Development Bank’s financial instruments remains positive

Comparative advantage is the facilitation of access for SMEs to the banking system with confidence, speed and transparency

The Hellenic Development Bank-HDB, for the third consecutive year, asked the renowned company Metron Analysis to carry out an extensive customer satisfaction survey.

The companies benefitted up to 2022 by the Hellenic Development Bank – HDB financial instruments spoke about their overall experience with HDB financing tools, including the procedures, the time of implementation of the programs, the general cooperation, as well as the possibility of expansion of their business activities in the future.

The survey by Metron Analysis showed that the positive perception about the role of the HDB remains.

The Customer Satisfaction Index stands at 74% and relates to HDB’s overall operation, the financial and non-financial instruments it offers.

The main conclusions of the research:

  • 80% believe that HDB offers more opportunities to realize investment goals compared to similar products of the past.
  • 76% feel confident and secure about the future in times of crisis.
  • 78% believe the resource distribution is speedy.
  • 74% identify significant innovation opportunities.
  • 71% consider that HDB products have more favorable terms and conditions than their counterparts in the past.

Furthermore:

  • 72% estimate that the distribution of resources is done more transparently, while 68% believe that the banking system via HDB facilitates the access of SMEs to funding.

In a new question, regarding the reasons for rejecting loan requests, the entrepreneurs answered that the main reasons relate to banks’ credit criteria, business financial data, lack of satisfactory collateral.

It is worth noting that 68% intend to expand into new areas of activity in the next 24 months.

The main area of expansion for businesses is “Environment/green economy/energy saving” with a percentage of 38%, followed by “Tourism – culture – sports – education – society” with 37% and then the sector “Construction-Transportation” follows with 34%.

On the basis of our values, with speed and transparency, as the research demonstrates, we continue to work towards the implementation of government initiatives by preparing the appropriate financial instruments that respond to the urgent needs and new demands of our economy. Our priority is to contribute decisively to the Government’s effort to expand the number of bankable SMEs, covering market imperfections, creating new markets and dealing in practice with business funding problems, both in terms of the increase in borrowing costs and the eventual lack of liquidity sources “.
